Attitudes can change so quickly. One minute you are sky-high and excited about life and the next you are drowning in a sea of self-pity. Why is that? Could it be from which mirror we look into?
I don't know about you, but when I get ready in the morning, I look into a mirror. If I went to school not looking into a mirror once, I would not know what I looked like that day! I would probably end up walking around with something hanging out of my nose! But this morning God brought something very different concerning mirrors to my attention. I woke up after an incredible week and went to the gym to work out, but the exercise class I wanted to participate in was already full. That was frustrating. I immediately went from having a great morning to being frustrated over a spin class! So, knowing I still needed to exercise, I jumped on a machine and just started talking to God. I noticed my attitude began to change. Earlier in the morning, when things didn't go exactly my way, I was looking into the mirror of myself. But when I started talking to Jesus, I was looking into Him. This is so important. When I look into myself, I will reflect myself. When I look into Jesus, I will reflect Him. God's Word says in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." It is impossible to reflect Jesus if you aren't first seeking Him. Seeking God isn't something that can be checked off a to-do list or done in a record thirty seconds. Seeking Jesus takes effort, work, and perseverance, but when you really seek Him with your being, you are guaranteed to find Him. I found Him in thirty minutes on an elliptical machine at the gym. Psalm 34:5 says, "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." By looking to Jesus, you reflect Him. By focusing on yourself, you will reflect yourself. Which mirror are you looking to?
