Someday My Prince Will Come...

Waiting is such a hard thing to do! In all of my favorite chick flicks the girl finds her true love in the first twenty minutes. Why can’t life be as perfect as a movie? We mostly find frogs and only dream of the day we will find our “prince charming.” During high school we should be focused on having fun with our friends, doing well in school, and honoring God with our lives. We shouldn't’t be so tied up in having a boyfriend. Why would you want to waste your time dating a bunch of frogs if you could completely save your heart for your prince? In this season of my life, God has told me to wait. Waiting isn’t particularly my favorite word. I am a go-getter. I like to get things done and then check it off my “to do” list. When I hear the word wait I stop dead in my tracks and think, “Whoa! I do not have time to wait! I have a schedule to keep and my clock says I need to find my prince now!” Well, God has indeed sat me down and said, “Emily, I have the perfect man for you, but you need to wait for my timing. “ I have decided to wait for God to reveal to me who my prince is. God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” In my time of waiting I have been able to completely map out my standards and the qualities I am looking for in a guy. I want to save myself completely for my future husband. I am choosing to not date in high school because I don’t want to go through the pain of not waiting for God’s best. I have also decided to save my first kiss for my wedding day. I don’t want any part of myself to be attached to anyone other than my husband. I am writing letters to my future husband and I save them in a special box. Then on our wedding day I will have years worth of love letters to him. I want him to realize the importance of what I have saved just for him—all of my love. I am also praying for his purity as well as for mine.
God has a special prince out there for each one of us. The question we need to wrestle with is, are we willing to wait for him? Are we willing to wait for God’s perfect timing? Believe me it isn’t easy to wait when everyone else has a boyfriend and it definitely isn’t easy to be the only one without a date to prom. I heard a great quote once, “What God is doing in you while you wait is just as important as what you’re waiting for.” Wait for God’s best for your life. You will be glad you did!

~To read about what God has in store for you check out the following verses and write in your journal about your dream prince!
Read: Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 119:9-11; Proverbs 31:10; Proverbs 3:5-6; and Proverbs 4:23.
Journal: What standards do I want to set for my dating relationships? What character traits do I look for in a guy?
Pray: God, please help me to trust you. I want to wait for you to reveal my prince charming. I love you Jesus! Thank you for making me your princess. Amen.

Great post, Emily! Indeed, waiting is hard. If you haven't already, you might want to check out Heather Paulson's blog at emotionalpurity.blogspot.com - I've really loved it. She posted a great quote there once that I think is fitting for this post: "Dance with Jesus, and He'll let the right guy cut in."

In awe of Him,
Megan

I do not have a boy friend because Iam only 12 but there is some one I think is cute and some times I find my self day dreaming about him. And I know that is wrong and realy like your ideas about dateing. I have some ideas of my own try just find a guy just like my daddy. He and my mom have been maried for 17 years this year. He's the best daddy in the world every time I think of that I think of the song She was watching by Mark Schultz. I know and trust that God will lead me through life and protect me from all my bumps and brooses but when I do get hurt he will be there to give me a big daddy hug and say its all ok.

I too have the same calling from God to wait. Wait for my first kiss and wait to date. I am sooo glad He chose me to be one who can share my love for Him with another. Jesus is and always will be my first love and that is something I know my husband is going to appreciate someday.
I have a website that is full of things on this topic. Come check it out and let me know what you think about it!www.freewebs.com/truelovemustwait/
